What is Mail-A-File?
Mail-A-File is a web-based email program (written in Perl) with file attachment features. The program allows any user to send an email from a web-based form to any recipient with a valid email address plus the ability to attach a file to the email message. This is a great feature to add to both business and personal web sites.

How does Mail-A-File work?
MAIL-A-FILE makes use of two Perl libraries/modules namely:

  • CGI_LIB.PL - developed and copyright © by Simon Tneoh Chee-Boon
    CGI_LIB.pl is used to parse data (including the file attachment) from the web form.

  • MAIL_LIB.PL (slightly revised version of MIME Lite.pm)
    MIME Lite originally developed and copyright © by Eryq
    MAIL_LIB.pl is used to generate the MIME email attachments.

    Note:
    Both these Perl libraries/modules are bundled with every purchase of Mail-A-File.

Multiple File Attachment Feature
Mail-A-File allows for file attachments (up to a maximum of 5 files simultaneously) to the email message being sent. The program can be configured to set an aggregate file size limit to the attachment(s). Most file types are supported and have been tested to work with Mail-A-File.

Requirements
In order for Mail-A-File to work properly, the following are required:

  • Webhost server running a Unix operating system (e.g. Linux);
  • Unix sendmail program, properly configured and installed; (also works with Qmail)
  • Perl interpreter, properly configured and installed;
  • proper permissions from your web host admin for you to run custom Perl scripts.

All ordered CGI City scripts are sent via e-mail as attachments after confirmed receipt of payment. We will send the ordered scripts only to email addresses which are either associated with your own domain name or your ISP's domain name.

If the contact email address provided is a free account like Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail or any other free web-based email account, the order WILL NOT be honored. Such orders will be cancelled immediately and the credit card used refunded the appropriate amount. We have received far too many fraudulent transactions associated with free email accounts which forced us to implement this rule.
